Norman Solander Studios is situated in the northern suburbs of Perth, owned and operated by local producer⁄engineer and musician Darryn Ball. The studio has been designed with musicians in mind, creating a warm and relaxing environment to capture the perfect performance. With high quality gear and an experienced engineer we can cater to any project, whether big or small.
Darryn Ball, owner of Norman Solander Studios, is a record producer, audio engineer and musician. His passion for music is lifelong. Darryn studied music throughout school, simultaneously playing in a number of bands across genres as diverse as acoustic rock and heavy alternative.
His passion for music is coupled with a fierce curiosity to learn. He completed a Diploma of Music Industry at SAE Institute, Perth in 2007, expanding his knowledge beyond writing and playing to recording, mixing and acoustics generally.
After working as an acoustic consultant, Darryn felt frustrated by the mundane and uncreative life of a 9-5 job. He left his career to pursue his passion of opening his own studio.
Many years later and Darryn has turned Norman Solander Studios from an idea to a standout studio in Perth’s northern suburbs, working with artists within a range of genres, producing, mixing and mastering everything from singles to LPs. Every aspect of Norman Solander Studios is the product of Darryn’s labours, from room design and fine-tuning the acoustics of the studio to the selection and operation of his top-class equipment.
Darryn’s diverse range of experience, working with sound beyond the purview of music, provides him with an unparalleled technical knowledge of sound and equipment. Coupled with Darryn’s two decades playing and writing music, his overall expertise gives Darryn unique insight into creating, recording and mastering music.
